Only Yesterday is a song about self-reflection. When I wrote this song I imagined looking at myself in the mirror. I thought about my past and if there was anything that was holding me back from being my true self.
lyrics
Throw it away
It's only yesterday
And nothing will be the same, oh when you get back home
Ain't it a shame?
Look at the mess you've made
And it ain't gonna go away all on its own
Treating this like a game
You don't want to feel the rain, but you need just a little pain
When are you going to realize?
You can just save all your lies, oh for when I get back home
Wasted nights
Dawning days
I don't have anything left to say
Build me up just to break me down
Feel the fire
Rising up
Burning hire
Oh, enough's enough
Shed your skin and just let me in
Throw it away
It's only yesterday
And nothing will be the same, oh when you get back home
Ain't it a shame?
Look at the mess you've made
And it ain't gonna go away all on it's own
Staying safe in your comfy cage
Feeding off the lies you've made, oh since yesterday
You're busy digging your own grave
Building up a tidal wave, oh you need just a little pain
Up tight
Nothing's right
Fall or fly?
Should we just say goodbye?
Oh, it's a crying shame
Dark days
Brighter nights
I'm thinking thoughts that I don't like
I'm just trying to survive
Throw it away
It's only yesterday
And nothing will be the same, oh when you get back home
Ain't it a shame?
Look at the mess you've made
And it ain't gonna go away all on it's own
Wasted time doesn't seem so wasteful further down the line
Search to find what’s been waiting for you
Throw it away
It's only yesterday
And nothing will be the same, oh when you get back home
Ain't it a shame?
Look at the mess you've made
And it ain't gonna go away all on it's own
Yeah, throw it away
It's only yesterday
And nothing will be the same oh when you get back home
Ain't it a shame?
Look at the mess you've made
And it ain't gonna go away all on it's own
All on it's own
All on it's own
All on it's own
All on it's own
Oh it ain't gonna go
All on it's own
Go away
It ain't gonna go away on it's own
