Mr. Something is about my younger brother Peter who has ASD. When Peter was young, doctors told my parents he might never speak and, mentally, wouldn't reach beyond a 7th grade level. Since then, he has gone on to earn a master’s degree, start (and run) a thriving business and, in the summer of 2021, he married the love of his life. He proved all the naysayers wrong and lives a life of limitless potential. This is a song for Peter and for all the underdogs out there - never let anyone's opinion limit your potential.
lyrics
Waking up in the morning, in your home
Cracking and a stretching your bones
Get out of your bed and inside your head
Oh it’s a wonderful place to roam
Talking to yourself like there’s no one else around
Flying so high oh you’ll never hit the ground
Oh Mr. Something
They all see you as nothing
But all I know is one thing
You’ll leave them in your dust someday
Playing their games
They all have thing, but yours is all for yourself
A ritualistic safety
Oh just maybe
You know something they don’t
Find a happiness that makes you want to scream and shout
Doing your thing without a shadow of doubt
Oh Mr. Something
They all see you as nothing, but all I know is one thing
You’ll leave them in your dust someday
Find a happiness that makes you want to scream and shout
Doing your thing without a shadow of doubt
Oh Mr. Something
They all see you as nothing, but all I know is one thing
You’ll leave them in your dust someday
